The villagers of Bahrampora, Chukar area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Tuesday expressed anguish against the non-functional of drainage system in the village.
People residing in the village alleged that the authorities are not speeding up the process of ensuring a proper drainage system from Wani Mohalla to Ganie Mohalla, which has created immense difficulties to them over the last 15 years.
As per locals, the damaged drain has been blocked by household waste, polythene, and plastic waste. “During rainfall, the lanes of the village submerge in water, thus causing hardships to local residents,” they said.
“The drainage system has been in worst shape for a long time and all the unclean water gets accumulated in the drain for a long time, which produces a foul smell and causes inconvenience while moving around,” said Usman Ahmad, a local resident.
Another local said that they have approached the BDO office in Wailoo, Kunzer, for a long time, but so far nothing has been done.
It’s pertinent to mention here that Daily Good Morning Kashmir has carried this grievance for the 2nd time today, but the concerned authorities are yet to act.
Meanwhile, locals appeal to Deputy Commissioner, Baramulla, Sehrish Asgar and Block Development Officer, Wailoo to look into the issue as soon as possible.
