As the winter approaches, there is simmering discontent among the residents of Tangmarg over the frequent unscheduled power cuts by the Power Development Department (PDD).
The residents of areas like Ferozpora, Qazipora, Warapora told Good Morning Kashmir that they are facing many problems because of unscheduled power cuts. “We do not receive proper power supply as per the schedule and frequent power cuts have become a daily affair,” they said.
“We are facing hardships due to the pesky power cuts especially during night hours. If PDD is unable to provide uninterrupted scheduled power supply then they don’t have the right to charge us for electricity, ” said Ali Mohammad, a local resident of Tangmarg.
The frequent power cuts have also badly affected the business community and students adversely, said Jahangir Ahmad Bhat, another resident of Tangmarg. He said that frequent power cuts make life difficult for people.
“The government and concerned agencies should expedite the process of installation of power meters in the area where smart meters have not been installed so that power theft is prevented and brought to an end,” locals he said, adding that “we pay our bills on time, but we are forced to suffer due to unscheduled power cuts.”
Such unscheduled power cuts are being witnessed everywhere nowadays as the complaints are being received from several other areas also.
They appealed Lt. Governor, Manoj Sinha, and his administration to supply uninterrupted power to the inhabitants.
