Residents of Kalaal Doori locality of Naid Kadal here on Tuesday staged a protest over water scarcity in their area.
“For last six months, we are not getting adequate water supply. We have been given assurances by authorities, but nothing has been done in this regard,” the protesting women said.
They said that at a time when the administration is claiming to provide drinking water to each household, we have been deprived of the same for the last six months.
“We have been visiting the offices of Jal Shakti officials and the district administration, but the authorities are turning a deaf ear to our repeated pleas,” they said.
They blamed the authorities for neglecting their repeated pleas. “We have been facing severe water shortage even as we informed the authorities several times, but to no avail,” they said.
They appealed Deputy Commissioner Srinagar and officials of the concerned department to look into the matter and redress their genuine demand at the earliest.
