Social Media has become extremely popular around the globe. It is a vast platform for all the people of the world to communicate and share content, ideas, thoughts, etc through the medium of facebook, twitter, YouTube, and many more. In today’s world, people can easily connect to one another irrespective of their caste, creed, color, sex, etc. We can contact any person within seconds. The purpose of social platforms is to provide positive and genuine information. It is to contact people in case of emergencies and share one’s viewpoints to help people but it is quite unfortunate that social media is being misused freely by teenagers, adults, and also by elderly people. Today people are being exploited and harassed on these platforms and are captured without permission and consent. These days youth is hungry for some likes and fame. Millions of people post trash on social media without giving it a thought. They often end up hurting the sentiments of people. What we do in our daily lives, especially at our homes is a private thing which is often exposed in front of people. The most painful thing is that women are being exploited at the hands of people running these sites. Videos of women are posted for some views and likes. and are used for entertainment to earn money. They are being treated as commodities and their prestige is degraded in front of so many people. Instead of saving her dignity people keep unveiling her. Even if a video of a female is leaked, we must not share it.
We are living in a world where people are doing any kind of stuff. Mind is not applied properly by the people of the world. In olden days, life was very difficult as there was no social media but the most beautiful part was that people used to spend their time on valuable things. They never felt the need to impress anyone or to prove themselves, whatever was done was for their own satisfaction and happiness. People were engaged in their own world. They had hobbies to do, music to play, and dance to perform without coming into the limelight. The bond of relations was so strong but faded with time due to the accessibility to Social media. People lovingly visited their relatives and friends, chatting for hours. They used to give their precious time to each other to make for happiness. Social media has put a lot of pressure on teenagers and youth. They are so much obsessed with likes, views comments, and followers that they can do anything to make it work for them. They try different things so that they become popular and when they fail to do it, their confidence diminishes and they go through depression. They value the viewpoint of the public towards them and try to please the world. No doubt social media has benefits also but it must be used carefully. We must use it for catching offenders but not for harassing or bullying a person for their personal life.
