The increase in global heating is threatening towns and cities worldwide to the extent that about a billion people may have to be shifted permanently from uninhabitable places to places which are more habitable. This phenomenon can completely wipe out some countries as well as rise in the level of ocean waters can cause significant threat to low countries like Maldives and Mauritius.
Global heating is likely to soar past internationally agreed limits according to a popular survey to this end. This phenomenon can bring catastrophic heatwaves, floods, and storms. At 3 degrees Celsius increase in global temperature, we are looking at the prospect of cities like Miami and Shangai going below sea level. This list would include other cities as well, meaning a significant percentage of global metropolitan cities could be underwater in the next fifteen to thirty years.
Climatologists worldwide have been stressing for lesser carbon emissions and reforestation on a massive scale. This is the only way to restore the ecological balance back to the world which has become a living hell. We are talking of countries like Germany and Canada where heat waves brought Saharan heat in an unimaginable way.
In Kashmir Valley, we are witnessing an extended winter season where it is not uncommon to see it snow in the later half of April or the first half of May. Extended winters are changing the timing of sowing of seeds, sprinkling of pesticides, and other key agricultural activities. Thus, global heating is marking a resonant change in our agriculture, socio-economic sphere, and eventually into our culture and food habits.
Owing to the heat problem the cities like Kuwait City would be uninhabitable after some time. The inhabitants of these cities and in some cases some countries would have to be accommodated somewhere else. This transition has the potential to lead to certain political clashes and violence. Coupled with the fact that the population of the world is increasing manifold this would lead to unimaginable consequences for the entire human race. Carbon emissions need to be controlled and afforestation steps need to be put in place. Human race deserves to live in peace.
