Despite various government schemes for power development in rural areas transmission lines hanging on trees depict the sorry state of power infrastructure in P.Halqa Machikrand village of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
Local residents of Ward 6, 7 (Hamlet Rajerwani) of P.Halqa Machikrand of Tehsil Uri accused the PDD of putting the lives of residents in jeopardy by not aligning the electricity transmission lines on the electric poles.

“With the wires lying low on these trees, anything untoward can happen and the onus will lie on the PDD,” said Mohd Iqbal Badhana, district President All India SC/ST Confederation.
“The villagers made repeated requests to the PDD officials seeking alignment of transmission lines on the electric poles, but our pleas have fallen on deaf ears,” Badhana said.
The residents sought the intervention of Chief Engineer PDD in this regard.
