The residents of Ratherpora – Delina area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district have expressed resentment against failure of authorities to restore defunct drainage system in the locality.
A delegation from the area said that due to defunct drainage system, the whole area turns into a cesspool during rains, causing inconvenience to the locals.
“The drainage system from Masjid Ibrahim to Masjid Mir Sahib has been in bad shape for a long time now and no one is paying heed to the issue. The drainage system is totally defunct,” said Aamir Shabir, a local resident.
They alleged that despite tall claims by the authorities, the poor drainage system has brought misery to the people in the area and that the collapsed and exposed drain also poses a serious threat to the health of the people.
The locals said, despite reminders to the concerned authorities it has failed to address the issue. They made a fervent appeal to Deputy Commissioner Baramulla, Sehrish Asgar to address the issue on priority.
“We have high hopes on DC Baramulla, Sehrish Asgar that she will personally take up the issue and try to resolve it as soon as possible,” said another local.
