Militant killed, CRPF man injured in ongoing Srinagar gunfight

Srinagar: A militant has been killed in an ongoing gunfight between militants and government forces in Malbagh area of Srinagar district on Thursday evening.

A police official confirmed the killing of a militant, adding that, a CRPF personnel had also been injured near the gunfight site.

The gunfight erupted after a joint team of army’, SOG and CRPF launched cordon and search operation in Malla Bagh area of Hazratbal in Srinagar after having credible input about presence of some militants in the area.

As the joint team of forces approached the suspected area the hiding militants fired upon searching party triggering an encounter.
