There is a famous saying that it is better to aim high and lose than to aim low and win. Our higher aims shall force us to soar higher to reach the higher destination and realize our great dreams. There is another great quote related to the same idea. I found it once written on a matchbox, ” Shoot for the moon even if you miss you shall lend among the stars.” This quote too teaches us to aim higher in this world to achieve great things in this world. Those who set above-average goals for themselves will achieve average things easily. The best are those who always try to improve their own standard. Wise people often teach us to build our own strong and undefeatable standards to succeed in our lives.
My own experience, in this case, may be beneficial to those who learn things carefully and are passionate about taking their aims seriously. I prepared for the civil services examinations religiously for ears. Though I was unable to succeed in reaching the particular goal I had set for myself. However, the experience the process taught me was great and beneficial. I could easily face the other exams which I found less challenging for me after I had faced the tougher ones. The experience taught me that our hard work is never wasted. Hard work pays us in one or the other way. This also installed much precious and valuable self-confidence in me. I think I am totally different from what I was before I started my civil services preparation. Although, I was not able to attain the goal I had set for myself still I do not regret choosing such an aim. I feel, rather happy about my choice. Aiming higher has gifted me with a lot of valuable things for which I must be thanking the almighty creator.
My own experience has also taught me the value and importance of patience and acceptance. I think we must accept wholeheartedly whatever the circumstances offer us after our diligent and dedicated task for a certain cause. If we are unable to attain what we desired even after our complete dedication and diligence then we must accept the results with a gracious heart. We must believe that God never wrongs us.
The story of the man who missed the flight is a great lesson for us. Upon missing the flight he thought that he was the worst example of misfortune because he had missed the chance of setting up the important deal by which he would have been able to earn a lot of money. But when he came to know about the deadly accident on the same flight he became aware that he was the best example of good fortune.
We must concentrate on our diligence and dedication to achieve the higher aims in our life and leave the habit of overstressing ourselves about the results. If our means are brilliant we must believe that our ends too would be brilliant and great.
Aiming high mixed with diligence and smart work is the key to our success. I think real success is the one that installs the inner strength and passion of self-confidence in us. We can hardly compare success with any job or money. I think success means the change you were able to bring with the efforts you made. Success is the brilliance of the skills we are able to create within our beings to live a better life in this world.
