Search operation to retrieve the bodies of three persons, who went missing after a boat capsized in the river Jhelum in Gandbal area of Srinagar on Tuesday, entered second day today, officials said.

At least 6 person including a woman and her two son died after the boat capsized in the Jhelum.

An official said that the search operation to retrieve the bodies of three missing persons resumed today early morning with multiple teams joining in.

He said that the operation continued till 11 pm last night, however, it was halted due to darkness and heavy water flow in the river Jhelum.

“Search will continue till bodies are retrieved from the river body. Every effort is being made with multiple rescue teams joining the operation to retrieve the bodies,” the official said.

On Tuesday, 6 individuals including a woman and her two sons lost their lives after a boat capsized near Srinagar’s Gandbal area due to high flow in the river Jhelum following incessant rain across the Kashmir Valley. (KNS)
