Nodoubt people are connecting to each other through social media and are collecting immense information, but in reality, it has also taken away the peace of our lives. We have forgotten the value of relations in our life. There was a time we visited the house of our relatives, neighbors, and friends with genuine love and care. People in the valley spent quality time with each other. Every family used to sit together and make conversations like humor, stories, life lessons, etc. Children also learned moral values within the family. The best part was that the bond of relations was too strong. Unfortunately in the present times, affection towards each other has faded due to excessive use of social media platforms. Time has changed now every family in Kashmir has become so modern that they only know how to surf the internet and are not interested in fruitful interactions. Especially, children are lost in their phones and they hardly care about what parents want to communicate. They have zero time for their families. Their only job is to search the internet and are not concerned about what is happening inside their homes. Each member of the family sits in the corner and is busy posting and viewing videos. Some youngsters are so addicted to social media that they view videos while having lunch and dinner. They are so into it that they don’t even know what food they are eating. Mothers have also adapted the same habits by being busy on these sites. Even when people go out to wedding ceremonies, we fail to enjoy it because we don’t leave these social media sites for even a second. It is only a part of our life that we have misinterpreted with real life. Every single person is sticking to youtube, Facebook, and Instagram 24/7. We don’t mean that people must not surf the internet but we want to make them understand that everything has a limit. They must work on their hobbies and skills other than these social media sites so that they become self-sufficient. Social media has become a headache for people around the valley. The worst part is getting clicked anytime without knowledge. Some foolish people are clicking photos and videos without even asking permission from another party. When a wrong video is taken and other party is not at all informed or even warned. We agree that many people nowadays are involved in wrong doing but is it not our responsibility to warn them before time and make them understand about its consequences in the future. At least they must be given one chance to correct themselves. Posting their videos on social media to earn some money and getting views damages the person and his/her life is spoiled. When the offenders are exposed instantly their chances of correcting themselves diminish. Their reputation falls down and they feel shame. Private lives are also being disclosed. Posting senseless information on social media sites gives negative vibes to society. The youth is badly affected by false information. We must be very cautious while using cameras and try to not hurt the sentiments of people.
