A police official was quoted as saying by news   agency KNT that one Nazir Ahmed of Tungdunoo had been called by police for questioning in connection with a militancy related input. When nothing surfaced against him he was allowed to proceed home without charges.

However Mehbooba Banu along with her family members approached Nazir and her family claiming that police will detain him again and that they should pay her Rs one lakh which she will pay to police to ensure they don’t detain him again. The poor family collected 80,000 rupees and gave the amount to her.

Apprehending that the family of Nazir may approach police with a complaint, the woman sent two of her relatives to Nazir and his family in the night in masks who threatened them not to go to police.

On receipt of this complaint, a case with FIR number 68/2020 U/S 420, 451, 500, 506, 109, 34 IPC was registered against the accused and the said woman whograbbed the money of poor people dishonestly and fraudulently has been arrested in the instant case.

“Investigation is on, more arrests shall follow,” the official said.
