Srinagar: Earlier in this pandemic, the shortage of tests for the coronavirus was a major problem in fighting the spread of Covid-19. The shortage was such that many hospitals and clinics would test only someone who had traveled from outside state or country with an outbreak, but in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district, asymptomatic people are now allegedly asked to visit testing booth for Covid-19 test.
Deepak Razdan, a business man currently living in a rented accommodation in Awantipora area of Pulwama district alleged that, the officials in ADC office Awantipora are harassing him continuously from last couple of days, and are asking him to visit nearby testing booth for Covid-19 test.
“I have no problem, I’m fit, even my body is not showing a single Covid symptom, but still they are harassing me and are asking me for a Covid test. Adding that, there’s is no sin in testing, but i can’t visit the testing booth lacated at Nihama and Karnzoo, which is far from my rented accommodation, even too many people having Covid symptoms come there. If they want to test me, they can directly visit my accommodation,” said Deepak Razdan
Razdan alleged that, the officials from local ADC office have contacted him seventeen times on Wednesday for Covid test, alleging that on Wednesday 9.30 pm, an ambulance came to his rented accommodation and started houting loudly. “All of my neighbours came out from their homed, after listening the noise of ambulance. It seems they ( Officials from ADC Awantipora) are terrorising me,” Deepak said .
GMK contacted PA, ADC Awantipora, Zubair Ahmad, he said that the area where Deepak is living in a rented accommodation has been declared as a red zone by the authorities, that is why he was asked for the Covid test. Adding that they also received information that a lot of people are visiting Deepak’s home for which he was asked for a test.
