The present government dispensation is leaving no stone unturned to transform the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir into an economically prosperous state. The whole emphasis of administration is to transform the shape of our economy, incentivizing start-up culture, spawning an unparalleled sports infrastructure, and making cobbled pathways on our major thoroughfares it is job of the citizens to act with great dedication and take firm steps for the development of not only the city of Srinagar but also of the entire Kashmir valley.
However, it is common observance to see a lot of youth idling away their days on streets, on the shop fronts, in barber shops, eateries and public parks. These youth do nothing but pratter on about anything under the sun. Idle Gossip has become a norm for the youth of Valley. It is understood if a retired government employee or an established businessman indulges in a bit of gossip. These kind of established men indulging in a bit of gossip is understood but employable, skilled young men getting into exhaustive discussions endlessly is a serious point to think about.
How much collective time is lost in these idle talks? How much raw energy is wasted there? Government is running dozens of skill-implementing programs at various centres in the valley. Instead of enrolling themselves in these training centres which in a majority of cases is free of cost , the youth just waste away the prime days of their life in fruitless discussions.
The government must also devise interactive, fun-filled programs for youth so that their interest is hooked in these programs. Organizing more and more cricket, football, and Volleyball tournaments is the need of the day. Keep youth productively engaged works wonders for the betterment of a society.
We hope that the youth who are the most valuable of a society dedicates their time towards productive activities and not just waste away their days squatted on a shop front fruitlessly discussing the world affairs.
