The Formula 4 racing event held on the banks of the world-famous Dal Lake was appreciated by one and all. Being a maiden event of its nature in Kashmir it will open doors for tourism and make a convincing call to hold such subsequent events in Kashmir. It also goes to show that the quality of roads in Kashmir have improved ever since Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has overtaken the reins of the union territory of Jammu and Kashmir. There were rows and rows of spectators who enjoyed the show thoroughly.
The icing on the cake was when Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted about the event. Prime Minister Narendra Modi highlighted the importance of such events and referred to Srinagar as top spot for motorsports in India. This is a huge compliment and coming from none other than the prime minister of the country will ensure that many follow-up sessions of this nature would be held in Jammu and Kashmir. This event will expand the range of alternatives for Kashmiri sports fans and mark the start of a new career path for valley aficionados.
Kashmir has always attracted events like these. In the 1980s many filmmakers would flock to Kashmir and it would be a first choice shooting destination for almost every prominent director and producer of Bollywood. There were independent performers, circus companies, movie stars, and whatnot. In fact, the majority of the Kashmiris loved Bollywood movies and these movies would run to full houses at almost every cinema hall in the Srinagar city and other prominent towns. Kashmiris love entertainment especially when it is sponsored by the administration. Kashmiris are great admirers of art, sports, and entertainment.
The UT administration must be congratulated for holding an event of such significance in Kashmir. It was a great event and went a long way in making thousands of tourists and adventure enthusiasts flock to the valley of Kashmir. It is exhibitions like these that can help steady the ship of Kashmir’s economy in the right direction. PM Modi must be thanked for highlighting this event and acting as a brand ambassador of adventure sports in Kashmir.
