We observe different things. When we stay away from our hometown, we experience several situations that teach us to deal with the complexities of life, which helps us improve our strength and survival. Living outside your hometown is not as easy as we have thought of it, and if you are a student, it even adds to your problems.
From the 8th standard, I decided to study far from my hometown because of my cousin’s brother, who too had opted to study far from home and was studying at one of the famous private universities of India, namely Parual University of Pharmacy Vadodara, Gujarat. It was a dream from the 8th standard, but it flourished when I was in the 11th and 12th. I was fully prepared to study far from my hometown, and in these days, I have also chosen New Delhi as a place because that place is the hub of educational activities, where I will pursue my graduation. So to grab a seat in Delhi colleges, I cleared the Central University Entrance Test (CUET) and was allotted Ramjas College of North Campus, University of Delhi.
So beginning a new life at Ramjas College of the University of Delhi wasn’t going to be easy for me, as I was from a village, due to which I lacked all-round development, which city students are very familiar with, and they are more familiar with adjusting themselves in this diverse environment. They have been observing all these things since their childhood, but for villagers who come from diverse areas, it acts as a problem, so they face difficulty maintaining stability.
I experienced a lot of things, which I want to share with you so that it may help those students who come from diverse areas and face difficulties at that time.
Home sickness: The natural gift that God has blessed everyone with is his or her family, so living in your home with family is completely different from living outside your home. It’s sure that when you move to a new place, you miss your family life; you miss your parents, brothers, sisters, etc.Talking about myself, when I made the plan to study outside, my father took it lightly as he thought my son was kidding me, but when he was sure that I had made a plan, he was a little bit confused. He thought about several things. He felt the big city of Delhi may not be appropriate for you, and several more things were restraining him, but he loves me and cares about my wishes and desires, so he made his mind to accompany me in the travelling process. It’s been 5 months since I was in New Delhi, but I am missing my family, my mother’s love, my father’s care for me, my friends’, and my mentors. I am badly missing them. When I remember them, my eyes are filled with tears, but I manage to make them feel that I am not missing them.So you have to control your feelings when you are away from home; you have to maintain stability in whatever way you can. It’s never been an easy task because there is no alternative to your family. I talk to them daily, and one night I was not able to pick up their call. They were worried. So talk to your family daily.
Your joining time: Time plays an important role in every person’s life, whether they are hard workers or lazy. There is a famous line, “Time and Tide Waits for None,” that will help you understand the reality of time. Your joining any institute matters. The same was the case with me. College classes were about to start on August 16 th , and I was in Delhi on August 12 th , but no one knows what’s going to happen in the future. Some health problems and some admission-related problems made it impossible for me to join college on August 16 th . Even the document-related problem wasted two months. Until 2 months I was not able to join college, then I joined college on October 3 rd , due to which I was not able to understand these things and couldn’t compete with other students, which affected me badly. My learning process, as well as my health, were affected by that. Furthermore, I was not able to interact with my teachers as well as my classmates.
Accommodation for survival: It’s clear when you are shifting from one area to another, you need accommodation for your stay, so that you can easily handle all the work related to your studies, for this purpose the colleges affiliated with Universities have hostel facility, but my all study aspects were disturbed how can I get the hostel facility there, so this added more severity to my troubles, and my health conditions turned worse due to changing adaptations, some guys helped me in the PG but then by the grace of Almighty God, a person namely Farhan Khan helped me, whom I consider my brother, he treated me more than like a brother, he shifted me to his home, then he took care of me, I remained there for about 4 months and he was there every moment with me, I learnt from him how to help people. He acted like a saviour in a strange area. Day-by-day learning makes you efficient; you can add to your personality; you learn new things, interact with new people, and get familiar with these things. These 4 months were totally different from the rest of my life; I hadn’t travelled alone; I hadn’t even made a cup of tea at home; I wasn’t washing clothes; all these things were strange for me. I learned these things by staying away from home. I was experiencing a new world.
It was the first time in my life that I became familiar with the term diversity. Until now, I had just heard the word diversity, but now I was experiencing living in a diverse environment where my classmates and teachers were from different states of India and interacting with them. I got the experience of living outside your home, but still, I miss my family and friends. My brother Farhan and some friends act as a family for me, due to which I am living a happy life.
