In view of complaints regarding overcharging on essential commodities, a team of officials of FCS&CA today launched a drive and inspected 72 business establishments in District Srinagar.
During the drive, a penal sum of Rs.15,100 was collected as fine from 13 erring shopkeepers for violation of the Essential Commodities Act, 1955. Besides, one mutton shop and two tea stalls were also sealed.
The drive was conducted under the supervision of Assistant Director Enforcement (Exe. Magistrate 1st class), Mushtaq Ahmad Wani.
It is worth mentioning here that during the current financial year in the valley, an amount of Rs 76,58,880 has been recovered as fine from 16469 erring traders. Besides, 208 establishments have been sealed and police complaints against 16 erring traders also stand lodged.
Moreover, the erring lot has been reprimanded to remain careful in future. The drive will continue in the same passion in future as well and whosoever is found violating the norms will be brought to justice.
