West Bengal: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday arrived in Kolkata to conduct an aerial survey of the damage caused by Cyclone Amphan in West Bengal and Odisha, reports said. At least 76 people have died in Bengal after the cyclone hit the Indian coast, leaving behind a trail of destruction.
Modi was received by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar at the airport. This came after Banerjee reached out to him and asked him to visit the state. The damage assessment teams will submit reports within a week.
