A Pakistani woman arrived in India to marry a Kolkata resident with whom her marriage has been fixed in January next year.
Javeria Khanum, who is from Karachi, crossed over to India from the Wagah-Attari International Border, where she was welcomed by her fiancé Sameer Khan and future father-in-law.
On her arrival in India, Khanum said she had been trying to get a visa for the last five years and was finally granted a 45-day stay in the country.
“I am extremely happy and wish to convey my special thanks to the Government of India for granting me a stay here. We have been in a relationship for the past five years. We were trying to secure a visa for a long time and finally, it happened. I have been granted a 45-day visa,” Javeria was quoted as saying by news agency ANI.
Speaking to the media, Khanum said that the Covid-19 pandemic had put a pause into their wedding plans. As a result her visa was rejected two times earlier, reported PTI. “I have been granted a 45-day visa. I am very happy to be here. Just on arrival, I am already getting so much love here. In the first week of January, the marriage will be solemnised,” she told the media. “…It is a happy ending and a happy beginning. Everyone back home was very happy. I can’t believe I have got the visa after five years,” she added, as quoted by PTI.
