Baramulla: Scores of ASHA workers Thursday held protest demonstration at Sub District Hospital (SDH) Pattan to press for resolution of their demands.
They sought government employee status, enhancement in and timely and hike in salary, supply of special kits, adequate protection, besides insurance cover.
“In this Pandemic, we are working as a frontline warriors, taking our life in risk that too without monthly wages, at times our workers don’t have fair for travelling from one place to another. Paying us few hundred bucks which is a sheer injustice with health workers like us,” said Shameema Bano an Asha Worker.
The Protest demonstration was led by Asha Union President, Baramulla, Mubeena Akhtar, along with Various Asha’s of Different health blocks of Baramulla and Chanted Slogans against Government.
“We do our job selflessly despite all the difficulties, even during the pandemic.
The government must acknowledge the improvement of health status of the poor, especially of mothers and infants, and concede to our justified demands,” said ASHA workers Union President, Baramulla, Mubeena Akhtar.
“Our workers who are enaged in red/containment zones lack basic health equipments,” she alleged.
The protesting ASHA workers demanded PPE kits besides compensation of minimum five lakh rupees for those workers, who got infection of deadly virus (COVID-19) while on duty.
“We are putting our lives on risk, government should provide all those workers insurance cover of Rs five Lakh, who get in contact with this deadly virus,” said another Asha worker, Shahzada Akhter, adding that, additional incentive of Rs 25’000 should be given to workers engaged with COVID-19 duty on monthly bases.
Meanwhile’ they appealed Government provide Monthly wise Wage to all Frontline workers with incentive of Rs 25’000 per month, otherwise our protest will remain continue.
