While on one hand the prices of petrol are skyrocketing, on the other hand a youth living in Azamgarh, Uttar Pradesh has found an interesting yet innovative way to give people relief by inventing a cheaper mode of transport. An engineer named Asad Abdullah has invented an interesting battery operated bike. One can travel up to 150 km on this electric bike in just Rs 10. And at one time up to 6 people can sit in it.
Asad Abdullah is a resident of Lohra Fakhruddinpur in Azamgarh district. Abdullah, who passed Mechanical Engineering in IIT, has prepared this bike at a cost of only Rs 12,000 from the items taken out of the junk in a span of one month.
He has made many interesting inventions in the past as well. A few days ago, Asad had also converted a KTM sport bike into an electric bike. “I am also from a farmer’s home so its difficult for me to buy petrol,” he said.
Asad Abdullah’s talent was exposed to the world when big industrialist Anand Mahindra was impressed by Asad’s invention and shared his video with his social media handle. He praised Asad fiercely. Asad says that he wants to do many types of inventions in the future and he has already started working on some projects.
Asad told the media, “Petrol prices are increasing day by day, so I thought that something should be done so that the people of the village can move from one place to another easily and economically. Since I am also the son of a farmer, I know the pain of the people.
Asad says that it took him about a month to make this electric bike. In this bike, Asad has installed a 1000 watt motor and the same watt controller regenerator. Also, they have used a Lithium Phosphate battery, which is 40V and 30Ah. Asad said, “This bike can be run for about 150 km after charging once and the cost of charging it once will be only Rs 10 to 12. Since it gets charged with only 2 units of electricity.
Asad has also got a lot of help from YouTube in making this bike. He says, “Earlier also I have worked on many projects, I had converted a cycle with a pedal into a cycle running at a speed of 80 km per hour. Apart from this, KTM bikes were also made to run on electric energy instead of petrol. Although KTM, being a sport bike, its cost went above one lakh rupees.
Although no big company has come forward to buy this 6-seat electric bike from Asad, orders have started pouring in from people around. Although Asad is still trying to make some more changes in this bike, so that it can prove to be a successful bike from all sides. The people of the area are feeling proud of Asad’s works. According to them, Assad has done such a thing which the common man cannot even imagine.
Mahindra Group chairperson Anand Mahindra, known for actively sharing quirky stories on social media, shared a video of a young man from rural India, who has invented an electric six-seater cycle auto-rickshaw, and said the device could find “global application”.
Impressed with the innovation, the tycoon wrote on Twitter, “With just small design inputs, (cylindrical sections for the chassis @BosePratap?) this device could find global application. As a tour ‘bus’ in crowded European tourist centres? I’m always impressed by rural transport innovations, where necessity is the mother of invention.”
Since being shared on Thursday, the clip has garnered more than five lakhs views on Twitter. The innovation piqued the interest of internet users and compliments poured in.
One Twitter user said the bike would be a great fit for zoos and corporate complexes but not so much for usual traffic.
Another shared a video of an environment-friendly vehicle from Europe
“Human powered alternatives are already available. This one is from Ghent, Belgium. And you can also have fun while going around in it,” they wrote.”
