A 20-year-old youth was feared dead after he drowned in river Jhelum in Sopore township of Baramulla district in north Kashmir on Wednesday.

Nazir Ahmad Cheechi of Bandipora slipped into the river in Seer Jagir area of Sopore this afternoon.

The fishermen and Police assisted by locals launched an operation to rescue the minor, however, no trace of the boy was found till late evening.
