Woman tries to end life by jumping into Jhelum, rescued

A woman allegedly attempted to end her life by jumping into river Jhelum in Safakadal area of Central Kashmir Srinagar on Tuesday morning officials said.

They said that a woman name (withheld) resident of Srinagar allegedly attempted to end her life by jumping into river Jhelum from Safakadal bridge this morning.

However, timely action by locals and police rescued the woman from jumping into river Jhelum.

Meanwhile, an official told news agency Kashmir Scroll after proper counselling, the woman was handed over to her father.(KS)
