The first snowfall of the season has been witnessed on the higher reaches of Kashmir valley. In a few videos shared online a visibly two to three inches of snow has accumulated on Sadhna top, higher reaches of Gulmarg and other higher reaches of the valley. It is a great thing that we had a timely snowfall in the valley as the months of September and October had way below average precipitation.
Dust had gathered on the streets and Boulevard of Srinagar and other cities leading to various higher and lower respiratory tract allergies. It had become impossible to ride on a two-wheeler without muffling one’s face. The situation is further compounded by lack of visibility as the fog begins to settle on the roads of Kashmir which has the potential to lead to many accidents.
The global warming is leading world into an incurable chaos with weather vagaries increasing at an increased pace. Colder places are becoming warmer and hot places like Saudi Arabia are experiencing snowfall. It is amazing to note that many hills around Medina and Mecca cities have turned green with green shrubs and plants ubiquitously sprouted their terrain.
Imagine what the places like Delhi and Ahwaz have to go through these days. The air is simply not breathable in those places. Accidents are happening almost after every ten minutes.
In Kashmir unless we take immediate steps there is a high chance that we can bump into a similar weather pattern. Since Kashmir is surrounded by mountains from all sides the haze can sustain for weeks on end leading to many hazardous situations.
Let us welcome this snowfall on our hilltops with open arms. Let us hope it gives boost to our tourism..
