A group of residents from Wazir Bagh said there was the problem of contaminated water from the last one year as there was mud visible in the water which was not safe for drinking.

“Mud is clearly visible in water. The problem has worsened in the last one year. During rains the problem gets aggravated,” said a resident, Danish Ahmad.

Locals told Good Morning Kashmir that despite bringing the issue to the notice of the concerned officials, nothing has changed on the ground and the people are left with no option but to consume the impure water.

“It is not fit for use but the irony is that the JSD is still supplying us with the contaminated water by labeling it as filtered water, which is far from reality,” the locals said.

Due to the unavailability of pure drinking water in the area, we are being forced to drink dirty water, said Mohd Shafi, a local resident.

Locals requested concerned authorities to look into the matter at an earliest so that people can heave a sigh of relief.
