Srinagar: Police Wednesday said that the sons of deceased man killed in Sopore attack blamed Government Forces under militant threat.
Addressing a press conference here in Kashmir capital Srinagar, Inspector General of Police Kashmir Zone, Vijay Kumar said that militants are keen to disturb the atmosphere and they are misusing places of worship. “Two incidents have so for occurred where militants used mosques to carry out attacks on Forces. One in Pampore and another is latest one from Sopore. Militants attacked CRPF personnel when they were alighting from the vehicles. The fire came from a mosque and when we searched the mosque, we found an empty and a loaded magazine there,” Kumar said.
“Miscreants used social media to malign the image of government forces while the sons of deceased issued statements under pressure and under militant threat,” he said adding two militants Usman Bhai, a foreigner and a local militant Nazir were responsible for Sopore attack.
“I appeal people affiliated with Auqaf Committees to look into the matter and don’t allow militants to misuse the mosques,” he said.
IGP Vijay Kumar according to news agency KNT said that they should have snapped internet very moment, the attack took place. “Such a disturbance could not have taken place, if we would have snapped the internet service,” he said adding that it is wrong to carryout cell phones during any operation.
“I ask the son of the deceased, his sister, whether they were present on the site of encounter. When they were not present there, how come they claim he was killed by government forces? It is a white lie. The man was killed after militants fired upon the CRPF. Come forward with an evidence, we will take action, but the reality is that family members of the deceased issued wrong statements and blamed CRPF when they were not present on the site of encounter,” Kumar said.
“Rumours are being spread to create disturbance in Kashmir,” he said.
About Brantal Tral encounter, IGP said that militants have either escaped or they have taken shelter in a house. “We have not lifted the siege yet. Searches are in progress. We have conducted searches in about 16 houses and we are sure, militants are still present in the area,” he said.
While talking about the achievements of Police and Forces, IGP said that this current year 118 militants have been killed among which 107 are locals and 11 are foreign militants. “Among 118 militants killed so for this year, 57 were from Hizbul Mujhadeen, 24 were from Lashkar-e-Taiba, Jaish-e-Muhammad 22, ISJK 7 and one militant was from Albadar outfit.
He said government forces managed to killed top militant commanders this year. These include Reyaz Naikoo, Hyder, Qari Yasir, Junaid Sehrai and others. “Our target in next two months will be some top Jaish-e-Muhammd and LeT commander. These include Lambu from Pakistan, IED expert Waheed, Ghazi Yasir, Usman from LeT who is active in Sopre and was part of the group that attacked in Sopore today. Besides Sajad is an old militant active in Sopore and there is Ishfaq Dar in Shopian and all these militants are on our radar,” he said.
