Unscheduled power cuts hit Budgam villages

Several villages of central Kashmir’s Budgam on Wednesday expressed their strong resentment against the Power Development Department (PDD) for failing to provide adequate power supply to these areas.

The inhabitants of villages, Yarikalan, Repora, Namtehalll, Sogam , Nagam and other adjacent villages are reeling under darkness as PDD is following any proper schedule.

Mushtaq Ahmad, a resident of Yarikalam said frequent power cuts have made their lives miserable as PDD is not following any proper schedule.

“Students preparing for various examinations are worst hit as they are unable to prepare due to these frequent power cuts,” he said.

Another resident Mohd Shafi said they are facing several problems. “Recently the government announced that there would be better power supply during the winters but all claims remained restricted to papers only,” he said.

Lateef appealed to higher authorities to look into this issue, so that it can be resolved within time.
