Jammu: Though! Hundreds of crores were spent in the state for skilled training and teaching-preparations under various sponsored schemes and programs by several regimes but none have been found serious to create or bring about employment opportunities here.
As per the survey report of 2018 by the Centre for Monitoring Indian Economy (CMIE) in collaboration with the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) found that Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) has the highest unemployment rate of 12.13 per cent.
And, despite generous opportunities and central govt sponsored programs, the so-called lethargic and otherwise anticipated as a corrupt kind of political as well as bureaucratic system seems seriously responsible for the slow growth of the state of Jammu and Kashmir.
Intelligentsia also hardly find any other reasons for the failure or non-performance of all such discrepancies. Above and beyond, people of Jammu & Kashmir though seems more happy with fair-mindedness bestowed by the present Governor Satyapal Malik through his statements where and when he says he has been directed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to build a “badhiya (wonderful) Kashmir” where corruption, inefficiency and sluggishness will not be tolerated.
And, at this juncture, public in general eagerly waiting for the outlined schemes for generation of employment in the state those include the roping in of private players by His Excellency Satya Pal Malik, the Governor of Jammu & Kashmir.
All the same, if truth be accepted, to an extent the law and order situation in the state has improved but as a state with unique features and a strategic location, the speedy development of Jammu and Kashmir needs an integrated approach. And, screws of lazy administrative heads seriously required to be tightened for creating a secure environment together side a sound policy should be planned to exploit the potential in the sectors of strengths.
A strong inter-linkages between the departments also needed for a sound policy and good governance that can lead the state of Jammu and Kashmir to a faster development path, told Dr. Suhail an innovative intellectual youth from Kashmir, while interacting with GMK. Dr. Suhail is also serving as an R&D expert in a private medical technology company in UAE.
Per Dr. Suhail, the climate of the state is ideally suited for research and development (R&D) in the field of biotechnology.
As our state is divided into three geo-climatic zones – subtropical, temperate and cold arid zones with specific needs. Most of the research in biotechnology has taken place for temperate zones of the country. Technical innovations cannot simply be borrowed from other states and there is need to develop indigenous technology for productivity enhancement and developing new varieties, keeping in mind the local conditions and demands, told Dr. Suhail.
Nigam Gupta, another entrepreneur from Jammu also told while interacting on this topic that private participation is must and most needed for the development of healthcare, biotechnology etc. and state government should do something special to build the infrastructure for biotechnology research and encourage private research initiatives in hybridization, micro propagation, tissue culture and other biotechnological applications in market gardening etc.
Gupta also revealed that the Ladakh region provides excellent soil and climate for seed production, the state government should encourage experimentation in this area.
Ladakh is ideally suited for production of medicinal plants which should be encouraged. And, a Biotechnology Park can be set up in the state to provide basic infrastructure along with various incentives to private investors.
Not to forget Healthcare, Medical Technology and IT industry, though not well developed in the state, has tremendous potential for growth.
For developing above, the knowledge-based industry, a large pool of educated and skilled youth in the state provides the required manpower. The geo-climatic condition offers an ideal location for setting up all the diligence.
The development of these sectors would help the state economy to solve the current problems of educated unemployment, weak industrial base, poor accessibility and small market.
Anirudh a private employee from Rajasthan also interacted on this topic today with GMK team at Jammu and appealed for establishing universities, under private auspices as in other states.
Anirudh also recommended for encouraging Non Resident Indians (NRIs) to invest in the sectors like Education, Medical & Healthcare, IT & Biotechnology etc. As these are the only visible ways left to eradicate unemployment while bringing overall developments here in this militancy affected state otherwise facing assassinations by our so-called Officer Shahi.
