The Primary Health Centre (PHC) building in Bandi Bala village of north Kahmir’s Baramulla has been awaiting its completion, with no intervention from the concerned authorities for more two years, locals said.
Locals said that even after the lapse of more two years, the construction work on the new building of Primary Health Centre (PHC) is awaiting completion, showing the lackadaisical approach of the authorities.
“We have been facing many issues as the construction of building with the facilities would have mitigated our problems but, unfortunately, it took many years so far, and is yet to be completed,” Mushtaq Ahmad Deedad, a local resident said.
“The plinth of the building was laid in 2014 by the contractors but the construction has been left incomplete,” he said.
Another local resident, Talib Hussain said that the lack of basic infrastructure has created immense hardships for the people who have to suffer in times of injuries and illness.
According to the sources around 50 lac were released to construct the PHC building. Till now 23 lac have been spent on the plinth but the building still awaits completion.
“It is unfortunate that the construction work is pending till today. During medical emergencies, we have to deal with a lot of problems,” said, Bashir Ahmed Deedad, another local resident, adding that this PHC is a dream project for the people of Bandi Bala. The ailing patients are in hope that the building will be constructed soon to heal people and help them to cope with difficulties.
“We have several times approached the authorities to restart its construction but they are not giving ears to our demand which is why the general public is angry,” locals said.
Meanwhile, locals of the area appealed concerned authorities to start further work of building as soon as possible.
