A teenager died due to drowning in Kangan area of central Kashmir district of Ganderbal, official sources said on Tuesday.
They said 19-year-old Mohammad Salim Khan was taking a selfie when he suddenly slipped and fell into a power canal in Kangan in Ganderbal district on Monday evening.
A number of persons present in the area immediately jumped into the canal but failed to save him.
However, the search operation was suspended due to darkness, they said.

The rescue operation was resumed and personnel from police and SDRF besides locals joined this morning to retrieve the body, UNI reported
The District administration has recently banned taking bath in the Nallah Sindh after several drowning incidents were reported this month.
About 18 persons, mostly youth, have died due to drowning in the Kashmir valley this summer so far.
