Residents of Warpora village in Tangmarg area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district accused the Jal Shakti Department of supplying contaminated water to their village.
The residents complained that they are being supplied contaminated water as there is no filtration plant in the area. “Water from Nalla Ferozpora is directly being supplied to our area, we are using water which is highly contaminated,” said Ali Mohammad, a local resident, adding that we raised this issue with the administration but nothing has been done so far to redress our problem.
The locals lamented that the impure water has put the village vulnerable to water borne diseases. “We are using water which is highly contaminated and unfit for cooking and drinking,” said another resident of the village.
The locals appealed the Jal Shakti department to look into the matter and construct filtration plant in the area.
