Start of e-buses in Srinagar- A welcome step

The trial run of six e-busses in Srinagar is a welcome step and will go a long way in protecting the environment of the valley from air pollution. These buses are environment-friendly and cost-effective. These air-conditioned buses with CCTVs installed inside are being procured under the Smart City project. These buses will also have the digital on-boarding facility, and live tracking so that people can be aware about arrival timing of the buses. These buses are already up and running in a lot of other Indian cities with tremendous success. We can talk of Bengaluru, Kolkatta, New Delhi and Hyderabad where people have accepted them for their being environment friendly and smooth. However, the administration must ensure that once the complete or near about complete migration happens to e-buses it is made mandatory for the owners to ply at evening hours. At evening hours there are very few to no buses plying on the streets of Srinagar. We must thank the district admission for finally making this possible. These buses are safe, secure, and environment friendly. We only wish that the number of such buses increases and sooner we can fully migrate to e-transport.
