Following directions of the Union Ministry of Education, the National Institute of Technology, Srinagar (NIT) is gearing up to implement the Hindi language in official work of the premier institute.
Director Official Language Department, Ministry of Higher Education (HRD), Suniti Sharma conducted Official Language (OL) Inspection at NIT Srinagar on Tuesday.
A statement said the Director OL was apprised about the progress in implementation of the official language on the campus. A separate Hindi Cell has been created for the implementation of Rajbasha at the institute.

Sunita Sharma said the main objective of the official language is to conduct the official transaction in one language throughout the country.
As per provisions of section 3 (3) of the Official Language Act 1963, the website of the institute should be bilingual (Hindi and English). Signboards, stationery items, forms, notice boards, rubber stamps, etc be prepared in the regional language, Hindi, and English as well.
In order to learn and acquaint the staff with the official language, the Union HRD Ministry has directed NIT Srinagar to use computer-based ‘Learn Indian Languages through Artificial intelligence’ (LILA) software’s main components — Prabodh, Praveen and Pragya — for officials nominated for working in Hindi.
