‘Speed Kills’: Illegal racing, bike stunting on rise

Performing bike stunts and illegal racing on two-wheelers have become a menace – It adds to the rising death statistics due to fatal road accidents. Nowadays, youngsters have a deep passion for bike stunts. From teenagers to adults, everyone is obsessed with motorbikes. Youngsters perform deadly stunts and later post videos on social media. Stuntsmen put their precious lives at risk for gaining some views. They also incite other boys to be a part of their gangs. Young boys speed up their bikes in the middle of the road and also try to overtake the other vehicles which confuse the drivers while driving. This puts other people’s lives in danger. Boys get tossed ending up with injuries and even death. The reality is that those are trained professionals who know how to control motorbikes very well. The tragic incident of a boy who lost his life recently has left everyone in shock. In this blessed month, again a family has lost the apple of their eyes. Earlier also, a lady with her newborn son was attacked by the bikers. Often parents give their wards suicidal poison in the form of bikes and cars before they attain the age of 18. This is the prime reason why accidents are on the rise. They don’t keep proper track of their children that is why youngsters are craving negative energies. Some are involved in social crimes and others in self-destruction. Boys and girls are less inclined towards positive things in life. Hence, youngsters must differentiate between right and wrong. They must stay away from self-harm and heinous crimes so that our valley sets a great example for other nations. Jammu and Kashmir police has always played a great role in mending the way of these youngsters. The department needs to be more alert so that the incidents don’t rise. Bike stunts and illegal racing are increasing in the city. Youngsters are currently trying to imitate bike stunts which are usually performed by professional stuntmen, thereby creating a threat to their lives and pedestrians. On a local level, we must come together and report the sportspersons immediately. We are grateful to the LG administration for eradicating drugs and corruption in the valley. We request the authorities to keep an eye on and catch the culprits immediately in order to decrease the number of incidents.
