Srinagar: Principal Secretary, Power and Information, Jammu and Kashmir, Rohit Kansal on Thursday said that Congress leader Saifuddin Soz is not under arrest or detention.
Kansal took to twitter and wrote; “Mr. Saiffudin Soz former MP and Minister not under arrest or detention. He has been to Delhi twice- in October and December. Free to go wherever he likes with usual security drill. No question of lying in Hon SC.”

On Wednesday, the Supreme Court took on record the Jammu and Kashmir administration’s statement that former Union minister Soz was never placed under detention and disposed of his wife’s plea seeking his release.
Earlie, today, Mr. Soz spoke to the media and claimed that he was under house arrest since 5 August 2019.
After Soz’s remarks, Rahul Gandhi also took to twitter and wrote; “The illegal detention of political leaders with absolutely no basis damages the fabric of our nation. Mr Soz must be released at once,” Gandhi tweeted.
