Srinagar: Even after the expiry of two years, Primary Health Centre located on Srinagar-Leh road in picturesque Sonmarg area of Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district has not been repaired and renovated, though funds were release for the purpose a year ago.
Two years ago, a ward of this Primary Health Centre was damaged due to massive snowfall. The Centre is in dilapidate condition and no efforts are being repair it.
Locals were quoted as saying by news agency KNT that this Primary Health Centre is very important for the accident patients as it is far away from district headquarters.
“Patients are being kept in open as the ward is in dilapidated condition. Even equipments are not safe and secure,” they said.
Health Department had released Rs 10 lakh to R&B Department for the renovation and repairing of this health centre, but till date repair work has not started.
Health Department had also allocated an ambulance for this Primary Health Centre. This ambulance had taken to Jammu for modification last year, but not brought back.
Chief Medical Officer, Ganderbal, Dr Mehrajuddin Sofi told KNT that he had taken up the matter with Chief Executive Officer Sonmarg Development Authority and R&B Department as well, but nothing changed on the ground.
