In a heartwarming display of communal harmony, Sikh brothers, in collaboration with the Rah-e-Umeed Foundation, organized a special Iftaar distribution at Jehangir Chowk on Friday. The initiative, aimed at promoting unity and brotherhood, saw volunteers distributing food and refreshments to fasting individuals during the holy month of Ramadan.
The event drew widespread appreciation as members of different communities came together to partake in the spirit of giving. The Sikh volunteers, dressed in traditional attire, handed out dates, water bottles, and home-cooked meals to commuters, laborers, and passersby, embodying the essence of mutual respect and coexistence.
Speaking to the media, one of the organizers said, “Ramadan is a month of compassion and sharing. Our Sikh brothers have always stood by us in times of need, and today, they are here to spread the message of love and unity.”
The Rah-e-Umeed Foundation, known for its charitable initiatives across Kashmir, expressed gratitude to the Sikh community for their generous support. “This initiative reflects the true spirit of Kashmiriyat, where people of all faiths stand together in solidarity,” a foundation representative Sajad Peer stated.
The event at Jehangir Chowk served as a poignant reminder of Kashmir’s rich tradition of communal harmony, proving that acts of kindness can bridge any divide. With smiles and shared meals, the gathering truly embodied the spirit of “unity in diversity.”
