Div. Com says, will ‘ look into it’
Baramulla: Taking advantage of COVID-19, authorities in the health department have left non-covid hospital SDH Kreeri in north Kaahmir’s Baramulla district almost ‘doctor less’ with nearly three doctors shifted out on deployment to other hospitals. The Kreeri Sub- District hospital is one of the premier health facility in the valley which caters patients right from Baba Reshi up to national highway, however from last two months the hospitals has been – according to locals- ‘wishfully’ targeted by the health department officials by shifting the doctors to other places.
Due to the alleged workplace conflict between doctors and BMO Kreeri, the CMO shifted the only anesthetist from the hospital on Thursday leaving the surgery department completely ‘shut’ which has badly hit the pregnant women and other patients who require surgery.
“Dr Tasaduq Medical Officer ( Anesthetist) posted at SDH Kreeri has been deputed to SDH Sopore in view of COVID-19 pandemic and Dr. Ishtiyaq Wani Consultant Anesthetist in view of his duty negligence stands also deputed to SDH Sopore. In addition on directions of director health services Kashmir, Dr. Gurjeet Kour was deputed to SDH Pattan. Thereby the surgical procedures at SDH Kreeri have come to almost to an end particularly this may have a great affect in conducting LSCS cases.
Pertinently one more doctor has been advised to stay in home quarantine due to COVID problem. The locals accused health department of ‘deliberately’ rendering the hospital ‘ dysfunctional’ and warned that if the doctors were not sent back, they would hit the streets and the responsibility would lie on the shoulders of the administration.
“ We are being victimized. How can you depute doctors form a single hospital and leave it almost non functional. This is not tolerable. Our OPD is suffering and the surgical department has been shut down. What if an accident occurs and patient needs immediate surgery. Who would be responsible in case of any eventuality.” asked the locals.
Meanwhile this reporter spoke to Divisional Commissioner Kashmir P.K Pole on the issue and he said, the issue would be ‘looked into’. Director Health Services Kashmir Dr. Sameer Matoo also said that he will ‘look into it.”
CMO Baramulla, when contacted, said she
has deputed a gynecologist from SDH Tangmarg to SDH Kreeri. When asked about the transfer of doctors, CMO said, that the doctor was transferred on complaint of BMO Kreeri. Adding that BMO is behaving rudely with his staff.
However, locals questioned the move and said, if an enquiry was initiated by Deputy Commissioner against Dr. Ishtiyaq Wani Consultant Anesthetist for negligence of duty how come was he bestowed by deputing him to his choice of posting by CMO.
Meanwhile Deputy Commissioner Baramulla Dr. G.N Itoo took a strong cognizance of the matter and said no one would be allowed to render the hospital ‘Non Functional’ .
“ I have directed CMO to visit Kreeri and resolve the issue. If the issue was not resolved by this evening, I will personally visit there. People need not to worry; I will not let anybody to create problems for Patients,” Deputy Commissioner said.
