Education Minister Sakina Itoo said that out of the Valley’s ten districts, educational institutions in eight districts will resume functioning as normal from Wednesday.

She clarified that the reopening of schools and colleges in Srinagar and Budgam is directly linked to the prevailing situation and any restrictions imposed by the authorities.

“If restrictions continue tomorrow, schools in Srinagar and Budgam will not reopen. If there are no restrictions, the institutions will function as usual,” the minister stated.

The Valley has witnessed precautionary measures in recent days due to the killing of Iran Supreme leader Ayatullah Ali Khamenei. With the situation gradually stabilising in most areas, authorities have decided to restore academic activities in the remaining districts.

Officials said further updates regarding Srinagar and Budgam will be communicated based on administrative review of the ground situation. [KNT]
