Salhoutuonuo Kruse scripted a history on March 7 by becoming the first woman minister of Nagaland. Kruse, who took oath as minister before Nagaland’s Governor La. Ganesan during swearing–in ceremony in the newly formed government led by Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, served in NGOs for 24 years.
She was elected from 8th Western Angami Assembly Constituency on Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) ticket in the 27 February 2023 polls.
Kruse expressed her happiness over her induction as cabinet minister.
She served in Angami Women Organization (AWO) for four terms (i.e. 12 years) as president, advisor, vice president and joint secretary.
She also served in Angami Public Organisation (APO).
Her husband (late) Er Kevisekho Kruse, contested the 2018 elections as NDPP candidate but lost. She said she wanted to fulfill the visions of her husband.
She was born on 15 December, 1966.
She fought the election with a slogan ‘Change for equitability & good governance, wherein she envision to work for equal infrastructural development and representation of urban and rural areas, to improve the quality of life of the people by enhancing good governance, peace and security, youth and women empowerment, skill development and employment and to create a model constituency for equitable delivery of developmental activities.(MILAP NEWS NETWORK)
