The recent incident in which a school going child was forced to commit to unnatural sex with his seniors has come as a rude shock to the entire valley. These incidents are unheard of and borders disbelief. The school is numero uno schools of the valley and known for its standards of strict extended calendar and discipline. The fact that this incident had been happening for over three years one can only imagine what the affected child might have to go through.
Schools are duty bound to ensure all washrooms remain single occupied at all times. A double occupancy washroom is a recipe for disaster. The fact that two of the perpetrators had a free access to a single washroom raises questions about the security of our children at these schools. There has to be a peon present outside every washroom in the school. This is a bare minimum requirement.
The first and foremost thing the administration can do is to provide a proper counseling to the affected child. If proper counseling is not provided to the affected child then there is a potential that he will remain a broken individual all his life. There is very little he could do about it.
Our heart is pained to hear such stories of sexual exploitation. As per the news stories the perpetrators threatened the affected boy with harming his sister who studies at an adjacent school. What a tragic turn of events? This boy remained silent so that his sister is not harmed in any way. The perpetrators in this case, even though do not meet the legally mature age of 18 years , cannot be treated as adolescents or children. This was a well orchestrated planned crime for sexual gratification. Strictest possible punishment must be meeted out to these children.
According to some sections of media the school administration remained silent for a considerable time when this issue was bought to the fore. If this proven by the police investigation then we can reduce that school administration also wanted to bury the matter. This matter is related to the security of our children. No leniency or laxity must be shown.
