Animals are no doubt the friendliest creatures and also a great source of food and help for people all over the world. When it comes to wild animals, they are just unpredictable. Forest is their ultimate home and the moment they cross the boundaries a person can be killed or injured in no time. Instead of seeing better days, we come to hear about leopard and bear attacks every day. In our valley, these man-eaters are entering villages, towns, and even cities in search of prey. When leopards suck human blood, they become inclined towards it, therefore, searching for the next prey. Here we need to understand that human blood must not be accessible to them, if it is so then in coming years these animals may prove fatal. Till date, hundreds of people have been killed and injured by the ferocious animals. It is heartwrenching that many small children have been dragged and mauled by leopards. These kids are lighter to carry when it comes to catching prey. That is why we have to not leave them alone. Bear attacks are also common in our valley. Men and women who go on their lands for agricultural purposes are often injured and some die on spot. The family goes through a lot of pain and has to suffer. The worst part is that the family of the victim has to find them in forests after they disappear. Why these cases are happening? Is the forest department slumbering? As soon as the person is killed or injured then only the wildlife department wakes up to catch these animals or find the dead bodies of people in these forests.
The wildlife employees can also face danger while catching the animal or searching for the body. Why isn’t the department taking pains to fence the open forest areas? The employees in spite of earning handsome salaries don’t bother to mark areas that can be dangerous for humans. The wildlife department was established to prevent people from animal attacks. If the concerned department is active then why have the animal attacks increased in the last 10 years? A day before, there was a fresh case of bear attack which injured at least four people. Catching wild animals won’t decline the no of cases but proper fencing at red zone areas would definitely decrease the attacks. Life is precious and if a single person dies it is a loss to society. Are we so weak that we can protect our small children from being mauled? When kids go out for playing, we must keep track of them so that their life is saved. We appeal concerned department to fence the areas which can be dangerous for the general public.
