Poor Jio connectivity irks the residents of Tangmarg

The local residents of Drang Tangmarg, area of North Kashmir’s district Baramulla on Tuesday accused private telecom operator Jio of poor voice calls and mobile internet service which causes inconvenience to the public.

The subscribers said that they were facing problems due to erratic calling and internet services for the past several years.

“We have been suffering due to frequent call drops and poor network connectivity, We are not able to connect with our near and dears. It takes a lot of time to make a single call,” said Naveed Manzoor Dar, a local resident.

“As it (Drang) is a famous tourist destination, thousands of visitors and locals visit during the summer and the winter season. During emergencies, the outsiders cannot connect to their respective guides. It is difficult for us to make calls due to the weak mobile signal,” he said.

Another local resident, Bilal Majeed said: “We are currently facing immense problems due to erratic calling and poor internet services in our area. We often come back from work during the night hours and have to walk several kilometers from Veshvoke Drang. Our families panic when our phone is not reachable. We have been deprived of this basic facilities.

Zaid Ali, a businessman, from the area said that for the past 3 years, Jio has been offering poor services in the area. ”To send a simple transaction or call, we have to walk miles, Poor connectivity is adversely affecting our business,” he added.

“We have requested them (JIO) to look into the matter but unfortunately nothing has been done,” locals said, adding that especially the tourists have been facing tremendous hardships due to the poor network connectivity.

The locals appealed the higher-ups of the cellular companies to look into the matter and redress their genuine grievances at an earliest.
