On account of the 10th International Day of Yoga today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi who is in Srinagar for a visit led celebrations at the Sher-i-Kashmir International Conference Centre (SKICC) on the banks of Dal Lake.
Moderate to heavy rain was reported throughout the Kashmir Valley. Rainfall was also witnessed around Dal Lake. PM Modi did different yoga asanas in an indoor hall along with a reduced number of guests due to the rain in Srinagar.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi highlighted the ‘transformative impact of Yoga’ over the past decade.
He said that in the last 10 years, the expansion of Yoga has altered perceptions surrounding it and today, the global landscape witnessed the emergence of a new Yoga economy.

He also added that in India, from Rishikesh and Kashi to Kerala, ‘We observe a burgeoning trend in Yoga tourism. International tourists flock to India seeking authentic Yoga experiences.’
Modi landed in J&K on Thursday for his first visit to the union territory after being sworn in as a prime minister for the third time. Speaking at an event, ‘Empowering Youth, Transforming J&K’, he assured that the UT will get back its statehood soon. He also said the changes there reflects the work done by the BJP during its last 10 years at the Centre.
