To instill the importance of trees, a group of young boys on Sunday started a plantation drive on Foreshore road in Srinagar.
On the occasion, about five hundred saplings of different species including Spirea, Wisteria, and Rosecreeper were planted.
Over three youth namely Owais Rashid, Yasir Mursaleen, Umar Wani and Faisal Bashir took this decision with the aim to beautify the city. Different teams were made and a dozen of saplings were planted at Foreshore roadside.

Speaking on the occasion, Faisal Basheer said that with the modern pace of development it becomes imperative to show our commitment towards the environment. He apprised that tree plantation is the most effective way to mitigate pollution and every Industrial estate in the valley will be involved in it.
The team later thanked VC LAWDA, Tufail Mattoo and Mrs. Gazala Abdullah, Project Officer Watershed Management Division LAWDA for their support.
The trio youngsters also thanked Unis Ahmed Bhat, Range Officer LAWDA and other staff members, who were present during the plantation drive.
