Accusing the Jal Shakti department for ignoring their plight, the residents of Rather Mohalla, Sari Warpora area of Pattan in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district have demanded immediate redressal of their grievances.

The residents told Good Morning Kashmir that they are facing acute shortage of drinking water since the last three months but no attention is being given towards the serious issue.

“The Jal Shakti department has failed to make an alternative arrangement to provide potable water to the residents,” they added.

Urging the administration to address the issue on a priority basis, locals said that tap water scarcity was a major issue in the village which causes immense hardship to the local population. They said that the authorities need to act in time so that people of the area are not deprived of basic amenities like drinking water.

“It is painful that our village is without drinking water, which is discriminatory towards our village,” locals said.

They appealed concerned authorities to ensure proper and immediate water supply to the area so that the water woes faced by the people would end.

The residents added that officials of Jal Shakti department have ignored them on all fronts and people are forced to drink contaminated water due to which locals are often suffering from water-borne diseases.
