Panch missing since 19 Aug, audio surfaces claiming his killing, police says verifying details

Srinagar: A Panch from Khonmoh area of Srinagar outskirts is missing after he reportedly went to Shopian on 19 August. An unverified audio clip has surfaced on social media where purported militants claim that they have killed him (Panch).

In the audio clip purportedly released by militants, they claim to have killed the panch adding that they “will not return the body due to the pandemic.”

According to the family members of Panch, he (Nisar Ahmad) is missing after he went to Shopian on August 19.

The family of the panch Nissar Ahmad Bhat has filed a report with police, stating that he left for Shopian on August 19 and is missing since then.

A senior police official when contacted, said that the family has filed missing report but the official declined to comment on the audio clip, saying that they are verifying the authenticity of the audio clip.
