A tourist narrowly escaped a terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam on April 22 while on a zipline ride near the scenic Baisaran meadow. The tourist, Rishi Bhatt, shared his frightening experience, recalling that he was mid-air on the zipline when gunfire erupted in the area.
Bhatt was quoted as saying by News18 that moments before the shooting began, the zipline operator said “Allahu Akbar” and gestured by moving his head side to side. Immediately after, gunshots rang out from both directions. He believes his position in the air may have saved him from being caught in the line of fire.
Following Bhatt’s account, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has taken the zipline operator in for questioning as part of their probe into the incident.
Locals don’t typically chant “Allah-o-Akbar” on repeat as a routine while conducting tourist rides.
