A New Type Primary Health Centre (NTPHC) of the health department located in Chuker village of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district is functioning from a rented accommodation and the center, according to the locals lacks basic facilities.
The locals said that the centre caters to the medical needs of ten villages with a population of over ten thousand people. “The centre is being run from two rooms of a residential house for the last eight years and authorities have failed to complete the under-construction building for the same,” they added.
An official on condition of anonymity said that there are only two rooms available for the centre (NTPHC) and the same is being used for all purposes.
“The unfortunate part is that there is not even a washroom for female staff,” said the official.
The owner of the residential house told Good Morning Kashmir that they receive an amount of three thousand rupees per month as rent from the concerned authorities.
On July 6 last year, the concerned authorities informed GMK that the target date of completion is Dec 2, however till date nothing has happened on ground.
