Nawa Kadal Gunfight: Man injured in house collapse dies

A 65-year-old man injured in a house collapse at the encounter site in Nawa Kadal area on Tuesday, succumbed to his injuries at SMHS hospital here on Sunday.

The medical officials identified the deceased as 65-year-old Manzoor Ahmed Khan, a resident of of Masheli Mohalla, Nawakadal, Srinagar. “He succumbed today morning,” Medical Superintendent SMHS, Dr Nazir Choudhary was quoted as saying by  local  news agency KNO.

According to the reports, after ending their Ramzan fast, many people thronged the encounter site in Kani Mazar locality of Nawa Kadal where two Hizbul Mujahideen militants, including the groups commander Junaid Sehrai was killed in a 12-hour gunfight.

They said as the people were watching the devastation, a partially damaged old structure collapsed suddenly, leaving four persons wounded.

Earlier, on Wednesday, a minor boy injured in a house collapse also succumbed to his injuries.

In the gunfight, two militants including Hizbul Mujahideen’s divisional commander, Junaid Sehrai, were killed.
